Saumerio 'Copal Negro' - Protium paniculatum Resin - Incense from Peru
Protium paniculatum is an copal-producing tree belonging to the Burseraceae family, the same as more more common copals, palo santo, frankincense and myrrh. This variety, however, comes from the Peruvian Amazon, where copal has several traditional uses. When burned, the scent offers powdery notes of green and pepper. It is a spicy, high-frequency incense that is curiously refreshing.
