Nepalese Guggul - Rare Commiphora wightii incense resin

This deep and premium guggul resin conveys an ethereal and mystical scent, and has a very long history of use within the Ayurvedic tradition. When burned, it conveys dark and relaxing notes of cypress, sandalwood, and juniper, with a fruity-chocolatey and bitter twist that proves its places in the myrrh family. Though this guggul belongs to the same species as my "Omani Myrrh" (also C. wightii), the scent is distinct, likely owing to the different climates and soil types of Oman and Nepal. How the same tree can be found grounding at the foot of the Himalayas as well as in the mountains of Oman is a mystery, though it's likely that traders introduced the tree from one area to the other, to cultivate the tree for its therapeutic properties.
