Boswellia occulta is a recently identified species found in the hills of Sanaag, Somaliland. The frankincense has been harvested for generations but has only recently been recognised by science. It has a unique appearance and produces an equally distinctive scent. Though the resin is 'dark' in places, the whitest tears of Boswellia occulta produce a bright top notes whose character lies somewhere between the resins of Boswellia sacra and Boswellia papyrifera. Overall, it's scent is sharp and complex, with base notes reminiscent of applewood, and powdery tones throughout.
