Socotra, an island in the Indian Ocean, is home to several unique plant species. Of these, are several dwarf species of frankincense (Boswellia) and myrrh (Commiphora) trees. One of the most special and unique species is the dragon's blood tree, something we might call a "living dinosaur".
The resin is unique. Its scent is timeless and mystical. It is beautiful, rare, and worth adding to your collection. It is harvested using traditional techniques according to tribal codes intended to preserve the ancient dragon's blood trees. My partners in Socotra are directly involved in conservation and replanting Dragon's Blood saplings damaged by grazing. By supporting the local communities, buying resins directly from them, I hope to move closer to implementing official fair trade certification with the help of my friends in region, whose conservation efforts ought to be recognised.
You must burn this resin in small quantities, especially if you are unfamiliar with it. Give the smoke some time to settle in the air, for its more complex camphorous and warming scent to be revealed. When burned, this resin conveys notes that are sweet, earthy, grassy, with the depth and richness of wood.
