Boswellia neglecta "Dakara" Frankincense - Better Photos Coming Soon!

Boswellia neglecta is a frankincense yielding tree that enjoys a wide distribution across Central and Western Africa. Different climates and soil types can alter the frankincense these trees produce. Though the resins of Boswellia neglecta bare some similarities, their exact fragrances can vary widely.

This particular batch is named "Dakara" after the mountainous area where this resin is found. The Dakara peak is near the Turkana basin, which one of the cradles of humanity; many early human fossils have been found there. This frankincense tree may well have been standing over some of our earliest ancestors, watching us grow and evolve, and I have no doubt that the sweet and magical fragrance of this resin may have helped us on our way.

When burned, this resin produces a floral sweet and camphorous fragrance, throwing out notes of pine and balsam: sharp, soothing, and uplifting. It is earthier than other resins produced by the same species, producing a tart and smokey citrus punch over the malty-sweet floral notes of (for example) Honey Frankincense. You must try this powerful, beautiful, frankincense. You will not be disappointed!
